On Wednesday, June 7, a round table discussion within the framework of the project "IDPs and host communities: building tolerance through dialogue" took place at Parle conference center. This project is implemented by the NGO "Women's Information and Coordination Center" in partnership with the international charity fund "Ukrainian Women's Fund" with the support of the fund C.S. Mott Foundation
The event was attended by about 50 people, including representatives of NGOs and initiatives from Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions, as well as representatives of state authorities and local government.
In particular, during the round table, the adviser of the Ministry of Social Policy and IDPs in Dnipropetrovsk region, Grigory Bibik, advisor to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Makarov, deputy mayors of the cities of Novomoskovsk and Pavlograd, spoke.
The purpose of the event was to discuss the results of the project with representatives of state authorities and local government, NGOs working with IDPs, and the internally displaced persons themselves, in order to take further steps to promote the integration of IDPs into local communities.
During the round table presentation of the communities of the three cities where the project was implemented (Dnipro, Novomoskovsk, Kamyanske) and the presentation of the results of the projects promoting the integration of the IDPs in the local communities by the winners of the mini-grant competition in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Colleagues from the Kharkiv oblast - Center of Gender Culture - joined the presentation of the results of the mini-projects and community profile.
In addition, Internally Displaced Persons themselves have made proposals to state and local government to develop and implement programs for addressing IDPs problems and their more active involvement in decision-making.
